Our Mission and Values

The mission of the Ukrainian Saturday School in New York is to educate and raise children and youth in the spirit of Ukrainian traditions and values, to nurture love for Ukraine, and to maintain a living connection with our native culture — regardless of where we live.
We help students:
-
master and improve the Ukrainian language - as a language of daily communication, learning, and self-expression;
-
explore Ukrainian literature, history, geography, and culture in order to understand their roots and Ukraine's place in the world;
-
cultivate respect for the national heritage, traditions, and spiritual foundations of the Ukrainian people;
-
strengthen identity and a sense of community by shaping generations of Ukrainians who speak Ukrainian confidently and act with dignity.
We believe that a Ukrainian school is more than Saturday lessons. It is a space where children find friends, grow within a community, take part in cultural events, and feel that being Ukrainian is a source of strength, joy, and responsibility.
Our goal is to pass down Ukraine's spiritual, cultural, and intellectual heritage to future generations and help them keep Ukrainian culture alive in the heart of New York.
