Subjects taught at the school

Our school's curriculum focuses on Ukrainian studies disciplines that build students' language proficiency, cultural awareness and historical memory. In accordance with the school's programs, we teach Religion, Ukrainian Language, Ukrainian Literature, History, Culture and Geography of Ukraine, as well as Music as an important part of cultural education.

How learning is organized by grade

Grades 1–7:

one teacher leads the core subjects (holistically and consistently, with consideration for age and level).

Grades 8–12:

each subject is taught by a dedicated specialist teacher.

Subject descriptions

Ukrainian Language

A practical course focused on developing:

 

  • correct writing and reading skills;

  • vocabulary and oral communication;

  • foundational and advanced grammar (depending on grade level);

  • the ability to express thoughts in Ukrainian confidently and naturally

Ukrainian Literature

We introduce students to the classics and key works of Ukrainian literature through:

 

  • reading and discussing texts;

  • analyzing characters, themes and context;

  • developing interpretation and self-expression skills.

History of Ukraine

A course that helps connect the timeline and meaning:

 

  • key historical periods and events;

  • nation-building, the struggle for freedom, prominent figures;

  • developing critical thinking and understanding of cause-and-effect relationships.

Geography of Ukraine

We explore Ukraine as a place and a reality:

 

  • regions, natural zones, resources;

  • cities and cultural-historical centers;

  • how geography shapes history, economy and identity.

Culture of Ukraine

A subject about "who we are" — through traditions and symbols:

 

  • customs, holidays, rituals, folk art;

  • cultural heritage and modern expressions of Ukrainian culture;

  • students' participation in school events and performances as a practical extension of learning.

Music

Music at our school is not an "add-on" but a way to live the culture:

  • Ukrainian song tradition, carols/shchedrivky, themed pieces for school events;

  • developing ear, rhythm and stage presence through performance preparation.

Religion

A course focused on moral and ethical education:

  • core values, respect, responsibility, dignity;

  • spiritual tradition as part of the history and culture of Ukrainians.
